Ultimate Sahara Experience: 4-Day Desert Expedition
About this experience
Four days is the Sahara without compromise. The first day crosses the Middle Atlas and the Ziz Valley to Erg Chebbi and the camel trek at sunset. The second takes the 4×4 out to Khamlia’s Gnawa musicians, the Mifis mines, the dry lake and a nomad family’s tent. The third has almost nothing planned: sand bread baked under the embers, a loom, a drum lesson, a hammock, and the dunes whenever you feel like walking them. The fourth brings you home over the passes.
Three nights in the same Berber camp changes the trip entirely. You stop packing and unpacking, you learn the camp family’s names, you get three sunrises and three sunsets instead of one, and the afternoon heat becomes something you rest through rather than fight. Photographers get the light at every hour; families get a day where nobody has to be anywhere.
The itinerary below is a frame, not a timetable. With four days there is real room to shape the trip around what you actually want — more dunes, more music, more oasis, more sleep.

Good to know
Who is the four-day version actually for?
Photographers who want every hour of light, families who need a day with no schedule, couples on a honeymoon, and anyone who would rather come back from Morocco rested than ticked off. If your priority is covering ground, the 3-day trip is the better fit.
Is a whole day in the dunes not too much?
It is the day guests mention most afterwards. There are workshops in the morning if you want structure, and hammocks if you do not. Nothing on day three is compulsory.
Can we change the itinerary once we are there?
Yes, and four days is why it is worth doing. Swap a workshop for more dunes, add a second nomad visit, ask for a longer camel ride at dawn — tell your driver-guide the night before and it happens.
Can we finish in Marrakech, or at Ouarzazate airport?
Yes to both. The return via the Todra and Dades gorges, Ait Benhaddou and the Tizi n'Tichka is the classic one-way routing and fits four days comfortably. Tell us in your first message and we will quote it.
Are the tents comfortable enough for three nights?
Private camel-hair tents with real beds, mattresses and heavy blankets, and shared bathrooms with hot showers. For three nights many guests upgrade to the luxury camp — en-suite tents, electricity, larger beds — for a supplement; ask us.
What about laundry, charging and connectivity over four days?
There are charging points in the camp's main tent, Moroccan mobile signal across most of the erg, and Wi-Fi at the desert hotel where your main luggage stays. Pack for three nights in a small bag; the rest can stay in Fez or in the vehicle.
Is it suitable for children?
It is the best of the three desert trips for families — the long day lets children do nothing without a schedule, and the workshops are made for them. Reduced rates under 12; ask us.
What time do we leave Fez and when are we back?
We collect you at your riad between 07:00 and 07:30 and return you to the same address on the final evening, typically between 19:00 and 20:00. You spend three nights in the desert camp, not in a hotel on the edge of town.
Is the price per person?
Yes — €260 per person, covering the private vehicle and driver-guide, the camel trek, the 4x4 excursion, your nights in the camp and all dinners and breakfasts. Only lunches on the road are extra.
How do we book and pay?
Send your dates and group size on WhatsApp. Once we confirm the camp, a small transfer secures the tents; the balance is paid in cash on the morning you leave Fez.
Can we finish in Marrakech instead of Fez?
Yes. The return can run through the Dades and Todra gorges to Marrakech, or to Ouarzazate for a flight. Tell us in the first message and we will quote the one-way version.
What should we pack?
A small overnight bag with layers — warm days, genuinely cold nights from November to March — plus a scarf for the dunes, sunscreen, sunglasses and closed shoes. Your main luggage stays locked in the vehicle or at your riad in Fez.
